Elisa stretching far out on her practice to become a lead climber. This technique is called "mock leading" and allows beginner leaders to experience how it feels to lead and lead-belay while being safe on a top rope. It is a great way to learn how to properly clip the rope and experience situations that cannot be learned via a book. Whereas Rich simply stood up at this same spot and easily clipped the quickdraw into the bolt, Elisa had to commit to one extra (more delicate) move to clip the same bolt. These situations remind all of us that each climb is different and that critical thinking is often required to stay safe. Thanks for coming out on this awesome 2 series lead climbing workhop. It's amazing how much we learned.
Rock Climbing in Europe… This summer we will embark on another mission and head out to Norway. Just like here we will be climbing right next to the sea with 24hrs sunlight around this. In the meantime we have to enjoy this beautiful shot of Stephanie Sommer being gracefully lowered off of Italy's shores.
It was such a windy day out in Joshua Tree National Park. That didn't stop @adam.hiner and @sae_at_play to come out and play on the rocks. We felt the elements so strong as wind gusts were whipping us around at the anchor. We successfully completed our mission to climb a 4 pitch route named "Dapled Mare, 5.8" on Lost Horse Wall. Both Adam and Sae were cruising up each pitch with ease! We topped off the day with another great 130 feet climb on Intersection Rock called "the flake, 5.8" including the windiest rappel that I have ever done!We will never forget his day ️⛰️

Pure excitement! That moment when your best climbing buddy is sending… Mike D. Just completed to lead Big Moe which for most people remains one of the best top ropes in the park.
Meet Derek!! @bloomstadtPassionate rock climber for life! Always great adventuring with this dude. Here on a casual ride down "Invisible Touch, 5.10d" on sidewinder rock in Steve Canyon, Joshua Tree National Park
Scoping out my next gear placement is a big part in trad climbing. It is important to be smart about what and where to place gear. On this climb it was necessary to save some of the mid size cams for the last half of the climb. A good strategy is often key to success… And yes! Proper climbing style helps too. Here on a mega classic in J Tree
Rock climbing at Mission Trails… Here on one of the harder lines that dials in at 5.12 on the main wall. Thanks to local climber "Neil" this one has fresh bolts and got awaken after years of rusty mess and sleep!Climb on!
Approaching Half Dome via Death Slabs… It is much nicer than it sounds like. This name may helps us climbers to maintain constant respect for the mountains and ever changing conditions of the rock. From the valley floor to the base it takes about 3 hours to get up there. It is quite a jungle of ledge systems an fixed ropes… Requiring a bit of mountain sense for proper navigation. Here Mr. Donaldson "bat-manning" up one of the steep gullies that we encountered. Always a great adventure to be out there.
Mike D leading out on a crisp day at Eagle Peak in San Diego. This is the last pitch of "Soy Chango,5.11". If you are looking for an overhanging route with positive holds in a beautiful remote setting… This is your route. The second pitch of Soy Chango exactly got this. No wonder that you can also find online pictures of @chris_sharma climbing this route. It's amazing how much high quality climbing San Diego has to offer… Often you just need to be willing to hike a little bit
