We hiked out to the North Wonderland to climb some more remote classics! It was gorgeous out and seemingly we were the only folks out there. Here, Fabi is climbing the amazing chimney start of “Gumshoe, 5.11a” Mike D.
When the first sunlight hit the top of the cliff. The clouds were hanging so down low in the valley making hills look like islands in the sea. We were grateful for some fine SoCal winter weather and of course superb desert granite. Always great to climb in the San Diego “backcountry”
This 5.8 trad climb is super fun and located right above the sport climbing area: “second pullout”. The obvious giant dihedral is well visible from the road.
The rainbow wall which thrones high above a massive alcove is accessed by this water gully… as seen in the picture, there is mostly a fixed line which facilitates the approach. The “Original Route” on Rainbow wall is one of the better climbs we have done lately… a must do for every 5.12 climber. @bloomstadt

How to coil, dbl. coil, flaking, backpack coil, and packing rope bags. One lesson. This “easy” skill takes some patience when never tried before. We saw man. Siny awesome backpacks as well as “rats nests” – name of the game. Stay organized and be awesome ? @cannonjtc
The main face has impressive multi pitch climbs up to 400+ feet. Most climbs are protected by bolts with very few “trad” lines. A +|- 1hr hike makes a great warm up approach. Great SoCal “winter” climbing
These cadets had 5 long days to experience what it is like to lead climb, build anchors, belay their partner from the top and then rappel down. Here @hockeyt200 and Oscar on top of “Trashcan Rock”. Great week with awesome students who crushed it from beginning to end.
