Amazing day out in Joshua Tree. Sean, his dad and sister Tristen came out to get on some multi-pitch climbs with us. We ended up climbing 6 pitches in 2 climbs that finished with awesome rappels for our descents. We are thrilled to climb again with this awesome trio. Father Stan is still crushing at 77! His strength and psyche to go out and adventure is impressive! Smiles were big, moves were busted out and the stoke was always high. Here Mike D. in charge of setting up a smooth ride down the rappel line.

We had so much fun teaching our advanced anchor class last week. In this picture Brad set up a toprope on a bolted anchor. Since the bolts were so far back – away from the edge – our best solution was to use a static rope long enough to bring the masterpoint low and over the edge. Static ropes anywhere from 9mm-11mm are great for this application where a long extension is needed to position the masterpoint low in order to avoid extensive wear on your rope. Once we had the static rope clipped to the bolts we also used a friction on one anchor leg to safely approach the edge and tie the masterpoint in the direction of pull… all that resulted in a nice equalized anchor with a clean running top rope So much fun to teach these little details that go such a long way in everyones climbing careers. Cheers and stay safe on the rocks.

Amazing day with Aiden and Cole! These teenagers showed up ready and crushed it from beginning to end. They demonstrated sharpness as we flew through the instruction part… quick learning and perfect application of the new skills. We tied nice and neat knots, belayed like Pros, figured out what "free climbing" really means, realized that the hardest hike is actually the easiest climb and also that some climbs protect with bolts and others with "trad gear". The day went so smooth we even squeezed in a rappel lesson! We would say they are hooked now. Crushers for life
